Candle Care Tips

Welcome to our Candle Care page! To help you enjoy your candles to the fullest, we’ve compiled a few simple tips to ensure safe and long-lasting use. Follow these easy steps for the perfect candle experience.

1. Trim Your Wick

  • Before each burn: Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps the candle burn evenly, reduces soot, and extends the life of the candle.

  • Why it matters: A wick that’s too long can cause a flickering flame, excessive smoke, and uneven burning.

2. Burn Candles for the Right Amount of Time

  • Ideal burn time: For an even burn, always allow the candle to melt across the surface on the first use (usually 2-4 hours).

  • Why it matters: This prevents tunneling, which occurs when the candle burns down the middle, leaving wax on the sides.

3. Keep Candles Away from Drafts

  • Where to burn: Always place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface and away from drafts, vents, or fans.

  • Why it matters: Drafts can cause uneven burning, and may also result in the flame flickering or blowing out.

4. Extinguishing Your Candle

  • Use a snuffer or a wick dipper: Avoid blowing out your candle, as this can cause wax to splatter.

  • Why it matters: Using a snuffer or dipper helps prevent wick debris and preserves the quality of your candle.

5. Store Your Candles Properly

  • Storage tips: Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If your candle is unused for a while, keep it in its original box to prevent dust buildup.

  • Why it matters: Sunlight and heat can cause the wax to discolor or degrade, while dust can impact the scent throw when lit.

6. Safety First

  • Burning guidelines: Never leave a candle unattended. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

  • Why it matters: Safety is our top priority. Always follow these precautions to prevent accidents.

7. When to Stop Burning Your Candle

  • End of life: Once there is about 1/4 inch of wax left at the bottom of the container, stop burning your candle.

  • Why it matters: Continuing to burn your candle past this point can cause the wick to become unstable and potentially unsafe.

Candle FAQs

  • Can I reuse the container once the candle is finished?

    • Absolutely! Many of our candle containers can be repurposed for storage, decor, or even as a plant pot. Be sure to clean out any leftover wax before reuse.

  • What if my candle has a lot of soot?

    • If your candle is producing excessive soot, it could be because the wick is too long, or it is burning in a draft. Trim the wick and try burning it in a more stable location.

Care for Your Soy Wax Candle

Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin, meaning it may burn at a slightly slower rate. This is why our candles offer a longer, more even burn. Be sure to follow these tips for the best experience.
